One more thing I thought of was that with the latest plug-in you can select self-hosted. If selected you can/should change the url of the video, and/or the embed code. There are some complexities I haven’t figured out, but on my site, I am using the code that Sam suggested for me in this thread. https://s3bubble.com/forums/topic/self-hosting-setup-issues/

    Look down into the thread and notice this<div id="s3bubble-unique-id" class="s3bubble" data-setup='{"codes": ["WefX43476"]}'></div>

I think this is down to the specific way you are building your WordPress posts, but you might try to update the embeds like this and see if it helps. I changed all of my embeds to this scheme and I am getting much faster page loads with no errors.

OK, I see now you specify WordPress. My bad.

I see the behavior you are talking about. I don’t have the same issue on my site vintagefilmchannel.com . I looked at your page and it looks like you are using some (or more?) javascript. Could this be some javascript conflict? Are you getting any error messages in the page? Do your other pages have the same problem?

Nice looking site by the way. It looks very custom built. Have you asked your web dev to look at it, or have you built it yourself? Are you doing any speed acceleration? Minify javascript or css? In Joomla and WordPress this can cause unusual behavior.

Any more details you can add?

are you using HLS with encryption? I think you must NOT encrypt for HLS on Android.

have a look at these posts https://s3bubble.com/forums/topic/self-hosting-setup-issues/

The embed string that Sam suggested for me may also work for you.
    <div id=”s3bubble-unique-id” class=”s3bubble” data-setup='{“codes”: [“WefX43476”]}’></div>
substitute your video id in place of WefX43476.
OR, use the S3bubble plug in to find your video id.

So I have been working on updating all of my videos to self-hosted. It seems to be working fine using the code you have provided above. So thank you!

This little adventure suggests to me that some/many of us are/have been confused about how to do this. Can I suggest a detailed documentation sheet about how-to set up self-hosted versus the other ways to embed? There are several categories of users:

    • streamium theme wordpress users
    • wordpress users who do not use streamium
    • other cms or custom coded site users
    • maybe some other use scenario

Each of these use-cases may need to use the code differently. Thanks as always!

And one more question. this file downloads on each page refresh and takes about 8/10 of a second each time. Is there any way to streamline this, reduce the download overhead, in some way?

OK, my bad. I forgot to take out the iframe code so was getting both displays. I will continue to experiment so I understand this.

I have pulled the code from the template and just tried this code on bird of paradise. https://vintagefilmchannel.com/action/bird-of-paradise/
the display is now displaying the thumbnail with the video player below. so, not working as expected.

not quite sure what this means

I see you have meta boxes on the right that are setup to add html code to this won’t output shortcode so adding shortcode won’t work

Ah, I think I get it now. the s3b functionality will reside in our individual accounts instead of needing to pass through s3b. It makes sense, and offloads server load to those of us who use more bandwidth. that is as it should be.

It is actually pretty exiting to see the rapid evolution of s3b and the changes and improvements that are showing up so quickly.

I appreciate all the work on our behalf, and look forward to the roll-out of these changes! Thanks to Sam and the entire s3b team for all that you are doing!

    Sam, Jamie,

can you guys describe what you mean by “Self-Hosted Plan” versus the “i-frame setup”?

My site currently is using a theme from wpzoom called videobox. I love the way Streamium looks (in general) but it currently has features missing that I need, so I have been experimenting with this other theme.

This discussion has left me wondering exactly what the relationship between S3Bubble service and Streamium is, and whether they must work together, or can be used separately, as I currently am set up. And if that must change in the future.

Thanks Sam, it’s good to know you guys are on top of what is going on.

I look forward to the coming changes in the service and in the theme.

OK, very interesting. The article does not mention security or piracy though. I wonder how they are enforcing their own security?

Hi ggtv– I am not quite sure what you mean by “temporal offline videos” But you can enable downloads of your videos in your webpages by simply not protecting them. If you are delivering mp4 files to the player without encryption, you can set bucket policy to allow downloads and include a visible link in your site/player page. If you are using Streamium template it would need to be built into Streamium, which it is not, so maybe that is your question. (anybody, please jump in if I have got this wrong)

Part of this is related to your business model. If you are intending to offer free access to your videos, then there are lots of ways to do that. It seems to me that S3Bubble is about enabling paid subscription access with hls and encryption, which is the opposite of free.

Can you clarify your question? And perhaps fill us in on your business model.

I just tested on both Moto G4 cell and tab10 tablet and both worked perfectly. Yea! This is very cool, oh, I said it would be, didn’t I? Well it is. A very useful feature going forward.

Now, questions. I have other apps that cast and both Roku and Chromecast showup when I am setting up the cast. That must be a separate implementation. maybe good for down the road. We don’t have any apple devices here but i will test when i get near one.

Q2. What is the desired behavior when the program ends? At this point everything just stops and I can back out of the screen. Is this how it should be or should another show be cued up, or some other action? I have no preference, just didn’t know what to expect.

Very Nice, thank you, Sam. Can’t wait to test with my own films when you go live with this!
